Land-use change and rapid urbanization increase local temperatures, intensify the urban heat island effect, and alter convective precipitation patterns in cities. Studying this phenomenon using remote sensing techniques allows us to analyze and highlight the growing socio-environmental challenges and their effects: more frequent and severe floods, droughts, and heat waves. This also demonstrates the need to implement sustainable land-use planning aimed at mitigating local impacts.

Keywords: land-use change, urban heat island, convective precipitation, remote sensing
